JURY & AWARDS 2002

JURY ARWARDS - International Competition (The Members of the Jury...)

1. JURY AWARD (donated by ARTE)

POLANOW

Argument of the Jury::
The poetic atmosphere of this film reveals a harsh conflict between nostalgia and the cold reality of present-day life: The fear of losing oneself in the connection to others. The director brings us to love her characters by letting them develop intelligently, each in a different direction, somewhere between openness and rejection.
For the quality of the script, of the acting, of the images and sound, and most of all - for the outstanding direction.

A film that by showing nothing and saying nothing wakes out imagination. The deftly arranged repetitions of seemingly banal images and the carefully composed soundtrack lend the film a new richness. We (the audience) become the director of our own film.
